Starbucks goes for fat (again)

I'll just purloin the following from Amazon's food blog, Al Dente:

Last week Starbucks announced it would buck the anti-Super Size Me movement and launch a 31-ounce option called the Trenta (for iced beverages only). Which makes me wonder: Is anyone at Starbucks headquarters paying attention to health and obesity statistics? Assuming that a high percentage of people will then add sugar to their gargantuan beverages, here is why I think this is a terrible idea (via the New York Times):

"A number of scientific studies have found that the amount of sugar we consume is a major factor in how big Americans have become. In the last half-century, consumption of sugars by the average American has increased by more than 24 pounds a year, expanding waistlines and crowding out more nutritious foods."

Imagine holding that cup once it's filled. It's a kilo of weight! And people obviously fill that crap with stuff they won't need. My freaking Lawd.

I remember now that I wrote about Starbucks and fat about 6 years ago, and things obviously haven't changed much. They now pay their Ethiopian farmers enough money for them not to die of starvation, but...
